AKBANK / Refik Anadol Studio / 2024
Visualizing complex datasets for permanent artwork at Akbank headquarters, spanning over 60 million pixels across 220 square meters
Process
The installation merges Akbank's corporate archives with Istanbul's natural rhythms across four distinct sections: Akbank Archives, Akbank Memories, Istanbul Winds, and Coral Dreams. The piece dynamically visualizes trade networks, historical photographs, real-time wind data from Istanbul's weather sensors, and coral reef imagery to create a dialogue between the institution's history and environmental sustainability. I helped the Refik Anadol Studio team transform Akbank's corporate archives, historical photographs, and transactional information into compelling visual narratives.

Akbank Archives
In the Akbank Archives section, I developed visual representations of trade networks where each line and node dynamically reflects the institution's growth patterns, with evolving colors and textures illustrating historical trade fluctuations.
The simulations used machine learning clustering algorithms to pre-process hundreds of thousands of bank transactions and transform them into mesmerizing, ever-evolving data sculptures.

Akbank Memories
For the Akbank Memories installation section, I worked on creating visual collages from the building's and institution's photographic history, weaving together corporate culture and collective experiences. My role focused on developing innovative ways to represent institutional data and natural patterns, contributing to the artwork's ability to tell stories through dynamic, data-driven visuals.
