NYC FLOW is an exploration of video processing technics introduced by neural-style code.
NYC Flow shows the city as a giant, animated impressionist painting. Colors spread like watercolors on top of and into each other, exploding on and around the iconic, real-life locales. Depth is reduced to just two planes, a foreground, and everything behind it flattened into a beautifully complex background.
Open-source software by Manuel Ruder, Alexey Dosovitskiy, and Thomas Brox from the University of Freiburg was used to create a base animation layer. Some additional post effects were applied to each shot to enhance color balance, refine details, and remove unnecessary glitches.
